Qigong in Autumn with Sigi

  • Wellington Square Health & Wellbeing Centre 44 Wellington Square Hastings, England, TN34 1PN United Kingdom (map)

Create space for health and vitality.

Sunday 20th October

9.30am-12.30pm at the Wellington Centre

In autumn we have to conserve and save our energy to prepare for winter. Autumn is the season of the metal element. In Traditional Chinese Medicine the metal element is associated with the lungs (yin) and the large intestine (yang) both deal with purification and elimination. It is important that we support those organs during this time to prepare for the coming winter to avoid coughs and lung infections.

In autumn the world naturally and beautifully lets go of that which no longer serves. Look at the trees, the leaves fall to the ground and they become soil for new seeds and growth.

As nature lets go so should we. Letting go creates space for health, energy, life, and new experiences. Often we are fearful of the process of letting go, even when we know it is right to do so. We seek to hold onto things, not trusting that change can be an opportunity for growth. Let’s look at some of the things we hold on to: stress, old emotions, tension, ruminating thoughts, sadness, anger, resentment, unhealthy relationships. Is it any wonder that we get apathetic and suffer coughs, shortness of breath, intestinal problems, colds and loss of vitality?

Qigong can help you to reduce physical tensions and balance emotions, by using slow and deliberate movements to open the spine, rib-cage, waist, chest and upper back. This increases the blood flow; remove toxins and aids lung functions.

In this workshop we will learn methods to release stress, stagnant emotional energy and physical tension.

·      Advanced breathing exercises to boost your energy.

Breathing is a very powerful way to let go of our tension whether it is physical, emotional or mental.

The art of Qigong “The dragon enters the sea”

This is a wonderful exercise to relax the body and to develop the mobility of the spine. It releases tension of the muscles and joints of the shoulders and arms and it opens your chest. It supports the lungs.

The art of Qigong “Connecting the sky to the earth”

This exercise is structured to develop a high level of flexibility, strength, balance and coordination of all the main muscles and joints of the body. The goal is deep relaxation of the whole body.

This workshop is suitable for all levels.

Fee is £42, the full amount is payable when you book your place. Fee is non-refundable.
